Welcome the new AmeriCorps member to our Green Schools team!

Meet Kara Davis, our newest addition to the Clark County Green Schools team. As an AmeriCorps Washington Service Corps program member, she serves as our Environmental Outreach Coordinator.

Her main role is to conduct lunch visits to check in on schools and see how we can assist with waste reduction, composting and recycling.
Kara is passionate about addressing global challenges like food waste and climate change, and is looking forward to empowering the next generation. She welcomes you to come say hello when you see her in your cafeteria!

On a school visit, Kara will typically:
• Educate students on the how and why of sorting their food waste
• Connect with staff to ensure schools have all of the supplies and resources they need to become more environmentally sustainable
• Check in with the custodian and Green Team leader, if possible, to see how sustainability efforts are going and if we can be of help
• Provide feedback on areas of improvement and best management practices

Feel free to reach out to Kara and request a visit to your school kara.davis@clark.wa.gov

Originally from the Baltimore area, Kara attended Arizona State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Sustainability and Minors in Business and Landscape Studies. Her honors thesis examined the impact of campus outdoor spaces on subjective well-being and provided recommendations for improving campus outdoor spaces. Kara enjoys hiking, photography, cooking, live music, and living a more "green" lifestyle.
