Green Apple Award Nominees Announced!

The Green Awards is a celebration of environmental work throughout Clark County. Please join us March 20th at Kiggins Theater for the big event! Register here.

We collected nominations a few months ago for this year's Green Apple Award. This award is presented to an individual who works in schools and educates students to be mindful and to practice sustainability. See the 2018 Winner, Ali Coker from Camas High School.

There are so many deserving Green Team leaders, teachers, custodians, para educators, administrators, etc. that do an amazing job creating sustainable communities in our schools. We have a committee review each application and make a recommendation on their selection.

Nominees for the 2019 Green Apple award are:

• Angela Fojtik, Vancouver Flex Academy High School
• Rebecca Morris, La Center High School
• Sara Rodin, Marshall Elementary
• Doug Varenas, Fir Grove Children's Center

Other awards to be given that night are:

Green Business Award
These awards are presented to one small (25 employees or less), one large (26 employees or more), and one non-profit or government Green Business in Clark County that demonstrate innovative sustainability in all of their business practices. See the 2018 Winners.

Green Neighbor Award
This award is given to celebrate the work of a volunteer that goes beyond the norm to serve the community through the Green Neighbors program. See the 2018 Winner.

"MCR" Superstar
This award is given to a Master Composter Recycler (MCR) volunteer that goes above the call to action, serving communities throughout Clark County by teaching about composting and recycling. Learn more about the MCR program.

For this year's Green Awards, a group of improv comedians from Curious Comedy Theater will be taking the reins and presenting their 'eco-conscious' improv. The troop will be interviewing leaders of Clark County's green programs with hilarious late-night TV flare. Their fun and family friendly environmental improv is something you don't want to miss!
