"Serving as an AmeriCorps member with Clark County Green Schools has been an extremely rewarding experience. Every day, I get to help schools with their waste reduction efforts by providing recycling and composting materials and educational resources. Not only is it personally fulfilling to support environmental stewardship in Clark County schools, but I am also developing a valuable professional skillset. This experience has helped me find direction after graduating college, while giving me the tools to succeed." -Trudi Timperman, Clark County Green Schools AmeriCorps Member 2021-2022
The new AmeriCorps member will evaluate school recycling and composting, serve as an educator, interact with students and provide tools for change, and update any signage or necessary pieces of equipment. This will require the member to conduct regular visits to schools during lunchtime to assess waste sort tables, provide outreach to schools not yet sorting and composting, assist in follow-up education and support, and deliver recycling containers and signage to schools. The member will also create outreach materials for the website, including blog posts and webpage content.
