Meet Carly Marshall, our newest Clark County Green Schools team member. Through the AmeriCorps Washington Service Corps program, she is working as our Environmental Outreach Coordinator.

Her main role is to conduct lunch visits to check in on schools and see how we can assist with waste reduction, composting and recycling.

Carly loves connecting with students and is excited to help Green Teams build healthier school communities and work towards environmental certification. Make sure to say hello when you see her in your school cafeteria!

Here's a bit more of what Carly does on a school visit.

  • educates students on the how and why of sorting their food waste
  • connects with staff to ensure schools have all of the supplies and resources they need to become more environmentally sustainable
  • checks in with the custodian and Green Team leader, if possible, to see how sustainability efforts are going and if we can be of help
  • provides feedback on areas of improvement and best management practices

Feel free to reach out to Carly and request a visit to your school! carly.marshall@clark.wa.gov

"I feel fortunate for the professional experience I'm gaining through this AmeriCorps position and am grateful to work with such a wonderful Green Schools team."

Carly Marshall

Carly grew up in Clark County and has returned to the area after studying environmental science and resource management at the University of Washington's School of Forestry. She has done research on old growth trees and has worked in natural resource policy. Carly can be found enjoying the beautiful trails of the Columbia River Gorge or napping with her dogs.
