The Clark County Green Schools team has been hard at work adapting what we offer to allow for the virtual learning environment. We hope to continue to serve and educate your students in waste reduction, recycling, composting and overall sustainability, even while they are studying at home or in a hybrid format. Just as you have been experiencing, it takes creativity to come up with the best ways to deliver education in a new way. Our hope is to develop high quality educational tools that may even reach even more students than we had the ability to do in person.
Here are some things you will see from us soon...
- A new interactive website that will allow students, teachers, staff, parents and the public to explore school waste and sustainability topics, showcase school gardens, celebrate the efforts of local school Green Teams and more. The interactive site will use a program called Story Map. You can see an example of a Story Map by checking out the virtual Natural Garden Tour created by our partner program Clark County Green Neighbors. The schools Story Map will be used during virtual learning to help schools celebrate past sustainability projects and plan for future actions. It will also include interactive lessons that teachers can incorporate into their remote learning plans, or to engage their Green Team in a group activity remotely.
- Hear from professional storyteller Will Hornyak in either an interactive Zoom format with your class or access a video recording of his story. Will previously delivered his stories in assemblies so this will bring his fun, interactive lessons to your virtual or hybrid class.
- Invite our educators to your Zoom class for an interactive waste reduction lesson.
- Explore Washington Green Schools's new At-Home certification, allowing students to be the Green Team leaders of their home and help their family reduce their environmental footprint.
