Top 5 reasons to attend the Educator Session, next week!

1. Get support and resources to help you in your efforts to make your school more "green", no matter where you're at in the process

Want to help your school reduce its eco-footprint while teaching students to be good citizens of their school community? Unsure about where to start, or how to keep the momentum going? Feeling like you have limited time and resources to lead a Green Team? Connect with educators from around Clark County to get their perspectives and advice on being a Green School, and connect with resources from Clark Public Utilities, Waste Connections, Clark County Clean Water, Washington Green Schools, and your Clark County Green Schools team.

2. Earn clock hours

There are many rewards for your efforts to become a "greener" school: recognition in the form of Washington Green Schools' certifications and awards; joining a community of peers and partners in sustainability; and clock hours, to name a few!

3. Enjoy good food and music!

Think you'll be hungry after the long school day? We've got you covered! Delicious snacks will greet you at the start of the session, and the "Networking Hour", sponsored by Waste Connections, will feature selections from Chucks Produce, fresh and hot! You'll also be treated to live music from Clark County's Pete DuBois and Waste Connections' Melissa Johnston!

4. Take some time to make a plan

There never seems to be enough time in the day to get done everything we would like to accomplish. That's why we're setting aside time for you to create a list of your goals and next steps for creating or sustaining support for "greening" your school. Ask questions and get advice as you work on your plan.

5. Hear about the challenges and successes experienced by other "green" schools in Clark County, and learn how every little bit counts!

Fostering sustainability can be a full-time effort, but it can also happen a little bit at a time! Hear from other educators about how they fit "green" programming into what they're already doing, where they've found support, and how their efforts have varied in scope. Become confident that every little success can make a big impact on your school, your students, and your community.

The Clark County Green Schools winter Educator Session is Thursday, February 8th in The Community Room at Columbia Bank (formerly Pacific Continental Bank) in downtown Vancouver at 101 East 6th St. The session is 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
