The Stormwater Partners of SW Washington are teaming up with Oregon's The River Starts Here campaign to bring a video contest to Clark County students in grades 6 to 12. Students have until May 20 to submit 25 or 55-second videos on topics related to pollution prevention, stewardship or their connection to local waterways.

The videos can be submitted by individuals or teams, so there is opportunity to make this a fun Green Team activity. Factsheets are available on the contest website that help inform and guide students on eligible topics, while leaving plenty of room for creativity and personal storytelling.

Local businesses sponsored five first-place and honorable-mention prizes of $500 and $100, respectively. Prizes will be awarded for five categories: clean water actions short and long videos, community storytelling, BIPOC filmmaker and a people's choice. Winning videos will be promoted publicly on social media and at movie in the park events this summer.

Teachers and students can visit www.stormwaterpartners.com/video-contest to see contest details and learn more about the topics. Winners from the 2020 video contest can be viewed on The River Starts Here YouTube channel.
